Week Ending 17th September

This week we have been learning about the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We have had an enjoyable week. The children have undertaken a variety of activities including the following:

Activity 1: Personal and Social Development, Well Being and Cultural Diversity
The children have been thinking about ways in which we can look after our Under Fives Unit and stay safe.

Activity 2: Language, Literacy and Communication
The children have been drawing pictures of themselves and “writing” their name, whether this is using letters or emergent “scribbles.”

Activity 3: Mathematical Development
The children have been sorting out the compare bears as they were in such a muddle! They did this according to colour, size etc.

Activity 4: Knowledge and Understanding of the World
The children have been thinking about the porridge that Goldilocks ate and taste testing other cereals. They have described how the cereals taste before choosing their favourite to make a class graph. Some children have been able to give a reason for their choice.

Activity 5: Creative Development
The children have been using different techniques to decorate stars ready for the class “Wishing Upon A Star” display board. Each star will hold the child’s photo and their chosen “wish” or target.

Activity 6: Creative Development The children have been singing songs and rhymes about bears using the hall and the outdoors. They have thought about the type of voices they need to use at different times and have used actions to perform the songs and rhymes.
The children have also been participating in a variety of other activities provided through the enhanced areas within the Unit. This includes sand play, water play, role play, dressing up, ICT, construction, investigating, music, collage, cutting and sticking, painting, playdough and clay, number, drawing, mark making, jigsaws, reading, enjoying books and listening to music. The children now have constant access to the outdoors environment and many activities take place outside. The children have access to obstacle courses, play house, slide and play frame, bikes and trikes.
